And They Flew Away !!!
She lies in her blissful sleep totally unaware she would miss a familiar face at the very least for 3 years. she would grow up in that time frame, lose her milky white teeth and probably speak a smattering of languages that he may never hear in his lifetime.
He recalled how he felt when he first picked her up gingerly from her creche. she weighed a measely 3.4 kgs but even at that young age her eyes sparkled a lot. Just like his own, they told an herewith untold story. the deep pools mired anyone who would care to look into them, beguile them and towards the end hypnotise them with alarming swiftness.
He missed her growing up years as he was away abroad but towards the later part when he returned he was fascinated by her. To him she was a stress buster and to just see her bundle of energy made him realise how much more life's got to offer. God was merciful and a couple of years later she was gifted a partner in crime. They never ceased to amaze him, and the new entrant made him see first hand what he had missed when he was away.
Taking them to school, outings, parks, malls etc were a part and parcel of the varied roles he played. he was strict when it came to discipline but it was a known fact that he loved them more than anything else. they were a part of his family tree and a tree with its varied branches looks best than a shirivelled one.
Tonight as he put them to sleep for the last time, he couldnt help but stare at those loving faces. incidents funny and likewise that he was witness to, the pride he felt as they took each stride in their life all stared at his face and his face glowed, a lambency unrivaled by any other source.
Its time for the birds to fly away. a new land awaits and his birds have gathered enough strengths in their wings to face any tide. after all a ship in the harbour is safe, BUT thats not what ships are for !!!
Far away across the seas in a scenic land awaits someone. someone who probably has more rights over them than he does as this person plays the pivotal role of a father in their lives. Its high time he gets access to them. He has been away just trying to build a future for them and his efforts are beginning to bear fruit. He was sure the father must be rubbing his hands in glee anticipating their arrival in a couple of hours from now and he was only too glad to facilitate the process.
He will miss his dearies and he knows when they grow up they may not even remember his face, but he certainly is glad he did the best he could for them while they were around. For now someone who has waited long enough needs their presence and its just right that they move ahead and out from their comfort zones.
As he laid down to rest with his dearies on either side he once again relished the closeness and happiness that they have bought for people within and outside of his family tree. In a couple of days from now even his future would be decided and he is just glad they flew off before he did.
Parting is never easy but this was one parting that he was glad they undertook before he did.
Good bye my lovely duckies, till fate brings us face to face let me just remain a shadow in your lives.....
